James 4:7
When the scripture says to “submit yourselves therefore to God resist the devil and he will flee,” I used to think well all that I need to do is go to church two or three times a week and give 20 percent of my money and I’ll be fine. But no James is talking about a personal move we must make in our lives. As you can see in the verses prior he is talking about coveting, murder, and quarrelling, and not being able to obtain because of motive. I’ve been so disappointed with myself in times past because I’ve saw how unbelievers or unchurched people would enjoy the benefits of prosperity and some of us churched individuals would be paycheck to paycheck, simply because we didn’t prioritize. God wants all of us, not just a two or three day fix during the week. We need to know how to pay bills on time, how to take care of our temples and how to care for our families, because all of these are part of the Christians life. In 3rd John 2 the Apostle said that he desired that we prosper and be in health even as our soul prospered and it starts with examining our hearts and then our willingness to make the right changes in our good lives. Just a note: life is worth living if you know how to live it. Blessings and may this word fine you where you’re at.
In Christ, Pastor Vondell
