John 5:6
Here we have an individual, among others who had a severe issue. Sometimes since we live in a culture of pain, hurt, and brokenness we don’t realize how bad off we are, we become immune to the pain. This one man had been paralyzed for a long time. He had made his home among the defeated. I assume that he was ready to die at any time due to his injury, but Jesus came on the scene. Yeshua, otherwise known as Jesus Christ showed up. When Jesus shows up on the scene, count yourself blessed. The reason why you should count yourself blessed is because Jesus is immanent(present and actively involved). There’s one passage of scripture that said that there was a blind person who was blind from birth, and Jesus said it was because “the works of God could be manifested.” So, back to the paralyzed man. He heard of a place where he could get free from his malady, but didn’t know Jesus who is the author of all healings. Jesus is not just into healing physical things like paralysis, sickness, oppressed people, but he wants to “heal all manner of sicknesses and diseases” Matthew 4:23. Remember that I wrote earlier that “we become immune to pain”. But, it doesn’t need to be that way. Jesus wants to heal us… We just have to let go. Let go of those things that cause us pain. Let go of those things that violate Gods law of love, and let go of trying to appease our carnal desires. The man who was at the pool of Bethesda was made whole; but it took him to respond to the words of Jesus. Don’t wait for lightning to strike until you walk in Gods will, but do it now, without any reservation. Jesus died to free us. Now if you are not Gods child through the saving work of the messiah, repent and be born again. The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law; meaning these things are automatic of those who are in the body of Christ. Let go, because life is not burdensome for those who trust in Jesus.
In Christ, Pastor Vondell Scott
