2nd Peter 1:3
I recall working for an temp agency( in a factory precisely), and barely getting by, and among others who fell in the same situation. With many things going through my head, I managed to hold on to the word of God! For me the word of God is not an alternative but it is imperative to all things pertaining to life and to Godliness 2nd Peter 1:3.
There was a gentleman in which seemed very nice, but was struggling.. in life. This gentleman alluded to possibly robbing a bank. At the time I was in the midst of a church plant and cordially invited him out, for fellowship. He explained that he had a family and he needed money, and I responded by saying “hey man”, me too, however if you would come to church you would feel something that you would not get anywhere else.
In addition, to getting the word of God, there were people who were coming to the fellowship who worked for social services who could have possibly helped him. Not to mention he and his family would have gotten a good home cooked meal.
Since, I have not heard of or seen this gentle, but hopefully all is well. If I would have given up and let the gentleman have more influence on me that I had on him, I would not be here now. By no means was that time in my life easy, but I managed to muster up all that was within me to minister, to somebody else.
The next time you encounter someone or something that wants to have more influence on you than the word of God, muster up the word of God in you. Someone looked at me and said ” you know I did not think that you would be here( the factory that I worked) as long as you have been. Maybe I was there for this one gentleman? May never know. The Lord is faithful..
Blessings,
Vondell
