Doing good from the heart

Luke 8:4-8

The old saying goes, “one can give without loving, but one cannot love without giving.” The scriptures repeatedly state that we are to love another, and help one another. In my view, the problem is that we have complicated the doing part of the word of God and are merely hearers of the word.

It does no good just to get our Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, or Sunday fix if we are not to implement what we have heard. Jesus said there are different soils of the heart, and these soils dictate what type of harvest that we will bear.

The thing is though, through my personal experience we can change our perception and soil by cultivating a prayer life, a reading of the word life, and by spending time with God and His people, which enables one to move forward toward reaping a bountiful harvest of seed that has been sown.

Don’t be like the farmer who runs away from the work of cultivating good crops- because of weather, pests, or self degradation but cultivate the ground that has been given and watch God move on your behalf.
