Are you blessed?

Matthew 5:1-11 Deuteronomy 28:1-68

Blessed- held in reverence: venerated b: honored in worship: Hallowed c. Beatific 2: of enjoying happiness; Enjoying the bliss of heaven- used as a title for a beautified person. 3: Bringing pleasure, contentment, or good fortune.

You have many people who tell you that they’re blessed. You have the homeless person that you’re ministering to on the street corner, who see’s that you’re a modest person and they think that because you are spending time with them and sharing your heart with them and they seeing your weaknesses or frailties and they ask you “how are you” and you say “I’m blessed” and they say I’m blessed too just to wake up this morning… You have the person with a seared conscience who does anything and everything that they’re mind and body tells them to do if they were to ask you “how are you?” and you would say” I’m blessed” and they would say me too? So lets see what Jesus and God the Father has to say about a “blessed person”.

Jesus said Blessed are those who are “poor in spirit”, he didn’t say broke in money. If you refer back to psalm 51 King David said in Psalm 51:17 that the sacrifices of God are a broken and a contrite heart, and a broken spirit, and what Jesus was referring to was a spirit of dependence and a heart toward God! He went on to say that blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted, he was talking about those who mourn over godlessness and injustice, furthermore he went on to say blessed are those who have power under control(Meekness). He also said blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, blessed are the merciful, blessed are the peace makers, blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake…So none of these characteristics says anything that would glorify self but God and Heaven.

Deuteronomy 28 talks about how the obedient person would be blessed if they would hearken to God’s voice and they would be blessed in every area of their lives and they would have peace In family, peace in having a good name among righteous people, they would be HOLY, and people would bless you with stuff… and if you look at the curses it shows that those who did not listen would have all sorts of bad fortune, and their circle in life would get more and more degrading. When you’re walking in the blessing of God it’s not a burden, whatever you do will be blessed and the righteous will rejoice when you’re blessed and doing well. Are you blessed?
